Synopsis:
Fifteen years ago Cassie fled her hometown, taking with her an undeserved bad reputation and a broken heart. She reluctantly returns for her father’s funeral and comes face to face with the one who broke her heart. This encounter sends her packing again, only this time it’s not so easy to just leave and forget. Her visit opens old wounds, stokes old flames, and uncovers lies and deceit. It’s showdown time!
An excerpt:
“Why
are you here?” Cassie snapped at him. He hadn't seen her come into the entry
hall but there she was, looking angrier than a she-bear with missing cubs.
“I
want to talk to you. Cassie, please....let's sit down and talk. Can we?”
“No....please
leave my house. You are not invited and you are not welcome. Go. Now. Before I
call someone.”
“Why?
What did I do, Cassie? Talk to me.”
“We
have nothing to talk about, Rudy.”
He
stared at the floor and Cassie almost felt sorry for him, because he looked so
pathetic. How did he find her? Why did he find her? She stared at his profile
and remembered how she would stare at him that way when they were in high
school. He never saw her looking. It was ironic that if that day had never
happened, and he had come to her this way, she would have happily taken him
into her arms. But that day did happen, and she could never forget it.
Rudy
felt his pulse hammering away in his throat. She looked so beautiful in her
long yellow summer dress. All he could think about was wrapping his arms around
her and pressing his lips to hers. He wanted her--badly--more than he ever
wanted anyone. Her scent reached his nostrils and as he breathed it in, he felt
his heart kick into high gear. She was staring at him with a frown on her face.
He had to say something--anything to keep her from throwing him out the door.
Cassie wasn’t mean! She was sweet--always sweet. Whatever it was about him that
turned her off, he had to fix it.
Beautiful my friend thank you
